Shade Hotel Eco Chic Luncheon

sustainability is the key to the future

Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach recently hosted an Eco Chic Luncheon for wedding planners throughout Southern California. The goal of the event was to share the hotel’s mission in using sustainable initiatives in their operations, and to help wedding professionals learn ways to be thoughtful in the carbon footprint left behind in their weddings. Vendors who sponsored the event showcased eco-friendly products and services in keeping with the spirit of the theme.

The keynote speaker was Kai Cohen of Green Canvas, whose company works with event planners, hotels, and caterers to reclaim their wedding and event waste and to recycle it. Event Directors, Jolise Tracy of Redondo Beach, and Megan Hixon of Manhattan Beach unveiled their new partnership with Plant With Purpose, a non-profit organization dedicated to reversing the effects of deforestation by educating rural farmers on sustainable farming practices in seven countries around the world. Guests staying at the brand’s properties can decline housekeeping and other hotel services and in return, Shade will donate trees equivalent to the number of nights to Plant with Purpose.

We were honored to design, plan and market the event and it was a great success because of the products and services provided by our creative partners:
